COME TO THE 17th ANNUAL STANLEY WINTERFEST

Stanley is one of the coldest places in the continental United States - so, of course, it hosts one of the best winter festivals around. The Stanley Winterfest is all about snow, thrills, and keeping it weird! The family-friendly event happens every President’s Day weekend.

Stanley Winterfest Giving Back 2025

All proceeds go back to the community through nonprofit grants.

In February, the Stanley community once again hosted Stanley Winterfest. The event was hindered by

Highway 21, also referred to as “Avalanche Alley” being closed. Winterfest was a little deflated in

attendance, however, we had locals and visitors from near and afar still attend. As a result of its

success, the organizers of Winterfest, through a grant application process, awarded grants to local

organizations who support the Stanley community, its residents, visitors, and businesses.

It is our pleasure to announce the following grant recipients....

All proceeds go back to the community through nonprofit grants. Here are the 2025 grant recipients:

  • Sawtooth Valley Rural Fire District has been awarded a grant in the amount of $2,000 to be used to repair the roof on the firehouse and the training center, as they both leak. The firehouse is also a substation for wildfire communications when needed. The training center is used by EMS, fire, as well as law enforcement needs.
  • Stanley School Parents Association has been awarded $3,400 that will go towards furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the multi-purpose room at the Stanley School. The multi-purpose room is used as a gym, cafeteria, assembly, and many other school and community needs.
  • Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association has been awarded a grant in the amount of $2,100. SIHA's naturalist program reaches over 20,000 people visiting the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. SIHA's naturalists are college students and recent graduates interested in gaining skills in communications and education. They operate the Redfish Visitor Center answering visitor's questionsand helping with trip planning and wayfinding. They provide free daily educational programs in addition to planning and implementing educational events. They also staff trailhead portals teaching visitors to recreate responsibly. Winterfest funds will be used to support SIHA's summer 2025 naturalist program.
  • Marie Osborn Salmon River Clinic Foundation has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1,750 that will be used to purchase an upgraded firewall and wireless router for telehealth equipment. The clinic now has the capability to provide video visits (rather than telephone only visits) for patients. The clinic has the infrastructure and ongoing funds to support wireless internet and video telehealth visits.
  • Salmon River Snowmobile Club has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1,000 to be used for the ongoing operation and repair of the groomer in the winter season.

Stanley Winterfest Giving Back In the Past

  • Stanley School Parents Association: Awarded $5,000 for the immediate construction of two new classrooms and a library at Stanley School.
  • Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association: Granted $1,783 to build a custom information kiosk and brochure rack near the Redfish Visitor Center entrance, along with custom wayfinding signs between the parking lot, visitor center, and the trail to Redfish Lake Lodge.
  • Stanley Ambulance (Salmon River Clinic Hospital District): Received a $3,717 grant to be used for purchasing a new ambulance.
